Granville Co, NC Deed Book C, p. 453, 3 Sept 1757. John Sherman to Thomas Goss for 5 shillings sterling, land patented to Thomas Mason 20 Apr 1745 and a part that was granted by deed to said Sherman May 30, 1757 containing in all 180 acres on s side of Stoney Creek. Wit: Robert Harris, John White.

To the Worshipful Court of Granville County this is to certify that we the Subscribers Decenters of the Baptis Denom'n have erected & appointed an House for the Public Worship of God on the Land of M'r. Lauderdale Co, MS, May Term 1851, The petition of James M. Anderson, respectfully shows to your honor that Sarah Ann Anderson late of said county deceased there the said Sarah Ann Anderson died on or about the 4th day of March AD 1851 and there she made a last will and testament not appointed any Executor. Therefore your petitioner prays the probate of same will and there he be appointed administrator with the will annexed and he asks that the said court appoint appraisers of said estate. J. M. Lauderdale Co, MS Book D, p. 44, 14 May 1851, Know all men that we James M. Anderson, William Norman & Robert West are held and bound to Jubal B. Hancock, Judge of the Probate court of Lauderdale County in the State of Mississippi, and his successors, in the penalty of two thousand five hundred dollars, for whose payment duly to be made we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators jointly and severally, signed with our names and sealed with our seals the thirteenth day of May AD 1851. The condition of this obligation is, that if the said James M. Anderson, Administrator, with the will annexed, of all the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased, which have or shall come the have possession or knowledge of James M. Anderson, the said administrator into the hands or possession of any other person or persons for said Administrator and the same so made, as exhibit to the Probate Court of Lauderdale county, at such time as he shall be thereto required by the said court; and the same goods, chattles and creats do well and truly administer, according to Law and make a just and true account of his actings nad doings therein when thereunto required by the said court, and further do well and truly pay and deliver all the legacies contained and specified in the said will as far as the said goods chattles and credits will extend according to the estate, thereof and as the law shall charge here to this obligation to be void, or else remain in full force. Probate Court August Term 1851. The Petition of James M. Anderson, Administrator, with the ?? of the estate of Sarah Anderson, Deceased, ? to your honor that the negro woman named Rhoda named in the said will, died on or about the ? day of August 1848, your petitioner in this final account charges himself with the following property req: One Negro Boy named Alston aged 14 years valued at $500, One Negro Boy named John, 12 years old valued at $500, One Negro Boy named Randolph, 10 years old, valued at $300, One Negro Boy named Henry, 4 years old, valued at $175, One bed and bedding valued at $10, One Box valued at $0.24. All of which property is disposed of by said will, Therefore your petitioner prays your honor to allow said account and order and appoint commissioners to distribute the same as directed by said will, and that notice be published to Mahala Evans, Jemima Spears, Martha Bonner, Thomas Anderson, Jack Anderson, William Anderson, Sarah Cook, Elisabeth Crenshaw, & Rebecca Smith, George M. Anderson, legatees named in said will to be and appear at the ? of said Court and show cause if any they can why said account should not be allowed and said distribution made. All the above named legatees are non residents of this county, and that your petitioner, upon the payment of the fee of said court be discharged from said Administration. Your petitioner shows that the above named George W. Anderson, to whom the said bed and bedding is given by the said will is a minor and a non resident of the county. John Goss' will was filed August 1825 in Granville Co, NC leaving his entire estate to his wife Rahab (Crenshaw) Goss.

Granville Co, NC Will Book 12, p. 467. May Court 1833. In the name of God Amen, I Rahab Goss of Granville County and State of N Carolina being weak in body but of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament in manner and power following Viz first my will and desire is that after my death that my exctrs hereafter named should sell such of my property as they may think proper and out of the proceeds of such sale to pay all my justs debts. (2) I give and bequeath unto my Son in Law William Hopgood and my Daughter Salley Hopgood his wife all the balance of my property ...and hereby nominate constitute and appoint William Hopgood & Fowler Hopgood Exects to this my will and witness my hand the fourth Day of February 1833.
