Macksfield Henslee...first appears in 1763 as the owner of 150 acres of land in what is now Hanover County, VA. In 1778 he received a land grant of 428 acres on Stoney Creek in Caswell County, NC, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He was a planter, growing primarily tobacca on his plantation. Macksfield Henslee married Martha Sneed about 1752. Miss Sneed was reportedly the daughter of an officer of the British Crown on duty in the colonies but no verification was found by the writer of this history.
