In the name of God, Amen, I Thomas Payne Jnr. of Frank County and State of Georgia being in perfect health of body and perfect mind and memory, Thanks be given to God, calling into mind the mortality of my body, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and testament, that is to say, principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of almighty God who gave it, and as touching such worldly state wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give, devise and dispose of it in the following manner and form - First I give and bequeath to my beloved brother Nathaniel Payne one tract of land in said county, and lying on (dosser?) Creek being the first creek that mouth in on the south side of the south fork of broad river above the mulberry grove, containing one hundred and fifty acres, the original grant in the name of William Bryan - Secondly I give and bequeath to my beloved brother Moses Payne one tract of land in said county and lying the south fork of broad river being my first tract I hold on said south fork below Nathaniel Paynes own survey, containing two hundred acres - Thirdly I give and bequeath to my beloved brothers Champess, Shrewsbury, Zebadiah, Poynedexter and Cleveland Payne, and my sister Ruth Payne one tract of land a piece of lonn of my land, to be as near the value of the other tracts, I have given to my aforesaid brothers Nathaniel & Moses Payne, and neither of my aforesaid brothers nor sisters to be visited with authority of making sale or conveying the aforesaid lands without the approbation of a majority of my executors hereafter mentioned, and the rest of my estate, both real and personal, after my lawful debts are paid, to be disposed as follows, that is to say the negroe that Colo Benjamin Cleveland is kwing me in case my beloved father should die before the deceased of my beloved mother Yannaky Payne, said negro during her life, and after her death, to be equally divided together with the rest of my estate be between all my bleoved brothers, step brothers and sisters, and in case of my brothers of sisters or either of their death without having any heirs of his her or their body that their part of my said estate shall be equally divided between the rest of my brothers and sisters and I do also hereby constitute and ordain my beloved Father and my friend John Gorham, William Cawthon and Tichard White my sole executors of this my last will and testament, on witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty six, and in the tenth year of the American Independance, signed sealed and acknowledged in presense of us who have in his presense & in presense of each others have hereunto subscribed our names. This Indenture made this seventeenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred ninety one, between Thomas Payne Senior Executor & heirs of Thomas Payne deceased and William Payne, John Payne, nancy Payne, Nathaniel Payne, Moses Payne, Champness Payne, Shrewbury Payne, & Ruth Payne of Franklin County and State of Georgia of the one part, and Leonard Malberry late of the town of Bedford and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Heirs of the said deceased Thomas Payne for and in consideration of the sum of fifty Pounds lawfull Money of said State to us in Hand paid by the said Leonard Mabbery the Receipt whereof the said Heirs of the said Deceased Thomas Payne doth hereby acknowledge hath give granted bargained & sold alineated and Confirmed unto the said Leonard Malbery all the tract of parcel of land lying and being in Franklin County of on the Toccoe Creek containing by estimation 200y's acres and bounded as follows to wit on all sides by vacant land courses are thus South 5 Deg - West 40 chain to a Spanish oak corner thence South 85 Deg to a ? Franklin County, Georgia, Deed Book C, August 27, 1790,  State of Georgia.  This Indenture made this twenty seventh day of August, in the Year of our Lord One Thousand seven Hundred and ninety, Between John Payne Senior & his wife of the County of Franklin of the one part, and Joseph Sinclair of the said County of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Payne Senior and Anne his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of Two Hundred Pounds Sterling money to them in Hand paid by the said Joseph Sinclair before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath Granted Bargained Sold, and by these presents Do Give, Grant, Bargain and Sell and Confirm enfeoffed unto the said Joseph Sinclair his Heirs and assigns for ever in fee Simple all that Tract or parcel of land situate lying and being on the said County of Franklin on Eastonolla Creek containing by Estimation Two Hundred Acres (be the same more or less) Butting and bounding on all sides by vacant Land at the time of the Original Survey, thereof which will more fully  appear reference being had to a plat annexed to a Grant for the same to the said John Payne by the Hon. Payne of the Franklin County ) County and state aforesaid do by these presents relinquish and quit claim of and to a certain tract or parcel of land that the Widow Nancy Payne now lives on known & distinguished by the said Nancy Payne the widow of John Payne dec'd and the whole of John C. Paynes part of his Interest in the Estate of the said Nancy Payne at her decease to wit a Negro man by the name of Daniel & said third part laying and being in the County and State aforesaid on shoal Creek that I have any Claim to as an heir of Nancy Payne Aunt to Robert Walters of said County and his heirs forever, it being the whole of said tract and Estate of Nancy Payne that I the said John C. Payne have any claim now to or may hereafter as the heir of the said Nancy Payne. Together with all and singular the rights members and appertainances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the premises aforesaid and the said John C. Payne do by these presents relinquish and Quit Claim to. I the said John C. Payne will warrant and ever defend the said part or parcel of land and his full claim and his part of the Estate of the said Nancy Payne estate unto the said Robert Walters his heirs and assigns forever from the Claim of the said John C Payne his heirs forever. Came to Arkansas circa 1870 with others of their family. They settled in the southern part of Van Buren County called Liberty Springs, however, the history of their children is found in Conway and Van Buren Counties. (Conway County, Our Land, Our Home, Our People, p. 383)

It is not known when the first settlers came to Van Buren Co, AR, but enough people lived in the area to establish a Post Office at Liberty Springs in 1870 with Tom Mills, Sr. and Nathan Sanders serving as postmasters. (A History of Van Buren County 1833-1983)
